Tudor house artefact

This wooden chest is on display in the Linenfold Chamber in Sutton House, Hackney.

Sutton House was built in 1535 by Sir Ralph Sadleir, a rising star at the court of Henry VIII. Although altered over the years it remains an essentially Tudor house. Oak-panelled rooms and carved fireplaces survive intact and an exhibition tells the history of the house and its former occupants.
